Yukon Blonde Announces 2016 Headline Tour

We are excited to announce that Yukon Blonde is hitting the road on their 2016 Headline Tour, and of course, one of the stops is Song & Surf Music Festival, Feb 5-8, 2016, in Port Renfrew. The Tall Tree Team is looking forward to hosting the band following their stellar performance at Tall Tree 2015 and can’t wait to see/hear their latest record title ‘On Blonde’ performed live.

Two weeks ago Vancouver’s Yukon Blonde returned home from a tour with Hey! Rosetta that saw them travel clear across the country playing sold out shows at historic venues like Massey Hall, The Vogue, National Arts Centre, The Jack Singer and more. Now, they’re ready to do it all again.

Beginning February 5 at home in Vancouver, the JUNO Award nominated and twice Polaris Music Prize listed band will take to the road for a month long tour that makes sure to stop in every province along the way. Full tour dates can be found below.

Out now via Dine Alone Records, Yukon Blonde’s On Blonde, produced and mixed by Tony Hoffer, (M83, Beck, Foster the People, Air, Depeche Mode) gazes wistfully away towards the more shadowy elements of pop production, soft synthesizers, punching bass lines, crushed drums, 80s cosmic pop compositions, and saturated psychedelic guitar effects. It’s more dynamic, more visceral, instantly accessible, and sonically denser than its predecessors – an ambitious, fully realized psychedelic pop record from a band truly in its ascendancy.

Want to know more about the band?

Yukon Blonde’s Tiger Talk was released in the spring of 2012. Having played over 200 shows in 2011 behind their debut self-titled LP and their Fire//Water EP, the band moved seamlessly into the release of this new album and continuing to tour around the world. In 2012 alone, the band has toured Europe twice, several USA tours (including opening for The Jezabels at 30+ shows in 300-600 cap rooms, fall 2012), performed at countless summer festivals, completed one almost entirely sold-out headlining Canadian tour (25 shows) and are currently on tour supporting friends The Sheepdogs. This album represents the next adventurous step in Yukon Blonde’s career. Its ten tracks are short and punchy, as the band trimmed the fat and packed hooks and brisk tempos into streamlined arrangements. “Radio” assaults the speakers with a brash stomp worthy of early Elvis Costello, while “Oregon Shores” blends its bouncy rhythm and sunny vocal harmonies with an epic, face-melting guitar solo. Elsewhere, a robotic drum pattern anchors “Breathing Tigers,” and “My Girl” taps into powerpop greatness with its “whoa-oh” refrain. The album was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize in 2012. The band has performed with bands such as: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, The Sheepdogs, The Sadies, Good Old War, Bedouin Soundclash, Ladyhawk, Zeus, The Jezabels among many more.
