VELVET 20 Years of Organic Electronic

Maybe you’ve been wondering what VELVET has been up to…or a little bit about the history of this iconic band. Well, we’ve got it hot off the press for you, so take a gander below.
We are so pleased to announce that VELVET will be closing the festival on Saturday night…so get ready for one hell of a send off. We can’t imagine a better way to come down for year #7 than with VELVET’s super sexy and soulful dance grooves.
Many of you old schoolers will remember the legendary “Sunday Sessions” at Steamers in Victoria starring VELVET.
Started originally as a club night by Kuba Oms in ’96, it turned into a . VELVET pioneers in the “Musician meets DJ” world of electronic music. They’ve  shared the stage with the likes of electronic legends The Chemical Brothers, pioneering hip hop producer  DJ Shadow to soul icons like Maceo Parker and Parliament… and so many more. In recent years Kuba has played with various Velveteers under the name The Velvet Revolution and you may have caught them playing the main stage here at Tall Tree and well as the main stages at Rifflandia, The Big Time Out and Squamish Valley Music Fest.

Old school Velvet members include all three of the musical ninja’s in the Techno ensemble Cobblestone Jazz as well and The Mole, Dj Wood and many others.
Kuba and longtime band member Thomas Shields (Righteous Rainbows/Run Chico Run) are apparently scheming in the rehearsal space preparing some late night re-imagined VELVET versions of some of the material from the two icons we’ve lost in 2016: Prince and David Bowie. How cool is that?!
